Renovation of duty-free locations of Lisbon, Porto, Faro, Madeira Islands (Madeira
and Porto Santo), and Azores Islands (Ponta Delgada, Santa Maria and Horta).

Today marks the official beginning of Portugal Duty Free, a partnership between ANA / VINCI Airports and Aer Rianta International (ARI). From today, Portugal Duty free assumes the operation of the 8 airport duty free locations of Lisbon, Porto, Faro, Madeira Islands (Madeira and Porto Santo), and Azores Islands (Ponta Delgada, Santa Maria and Horta).

During the next 18 months each store will be renovated according to both VINCI Airports’ and ARI’s sense-of-place strategy; each store will have an individually crafted identity, reflective of the local landscape and culture, to create a bespoke experience for passengers. Unique and innovative retail experiences will proudly showcase the best of local product and encapsulate the essence of Portugalidade.

Our partnership with ARI will allow creating a bespoke sense of place and an unrivalled shopping experience, complimenting the best of Portugal with leading international brands and travel retail exclusives with great value for our customers.

News of the Portugal Duty Free partnership was first announced in February 2022 when, following a competitive bid process, ANA / VINCI Airports selected ARI as their new partner of choice. Since then, close collaboration and coordination behind the scenes has ensued, ensuring a seamless transition for the local teams on 1 June and what will become a world-class experience for passengers.

To mark the occasion today, passengers travelling through Lisbon Airport embraced the celebrations with music, master mixologists, artisan Santini ice-cream and many other surprises at Lisbon Duty Free.

After months of careful planning and collaboration across the business, we are delighted to launch our operations here in Portugal.
