This month, we welcomed the team from Euromonitor International to our Central support office in Dublin to share some of their key insights on future travel trends and an outlook on market forecasts.

We are always looking at the now, near and future, making sure we have our finger firmly on the pulse of emerging passenger trends and can adapt to meet and grow with our passengers.

Here’s a look at some of the key factors to consider in terms of Euromonitor’s Travel Flow Forecast:

  • Passengers spend is predicted to outperform passenger growth between 2025-2029. While international traveller numbers are expected to grow by 20% by 2029, spending on travel and tourism is projected to rise by an even more impressive 35%. This highlights the opportunity to not only focus on growing passenger numbers, but to attract passengers who are prepared to spend more.
  • Travellers from the UAE, Australia and Vietnam will spend the highest per outbound trip by 2028. Travellers from the UAE, Australia and Vietnam are predicted to spend between $2500-$2750 per person on an outbound trip, whereas outbound passengers from areas such as the UK, US and Germany are predicted to spend between $1200-$1500 on average.
  • Inbound arrivals to Ireland are predicted to grow by 16% from 2025-2026 – While the average stay of American tourists remains the same length, European visitors are spending less time in Ireland when they visit. The availability of airline seats to Ireland from the USA were up 9% this summer year-on-year.
  • By 2029, inbound arrivals to the United States are forecast to increase by 47%. Though passengers from East Asia are opting to visit regional areas instead, due to an increasing number of barriers to entry to the USA. Regional areas such as Thailand and Vietnam have become more popular for East Asian PAX, though this proves to be an issue as they constitute some of the highest spending inbound tourists.

From rising passenger spend to regional preferences, the Euromonitor Insights offer valuable foresight and highlight key opportunities to meet the needs of the travellers of tomorrow.
