Larnaca, Cyprus, 20 November

Earlier this year, Cyprus Duty Free embarked on their “Adopt a Hive” initiative, partnering with local bee farm Oros Machairas to adopt 4 working hives as part of their on-going ESG commitments.

Over 50 colleagues from Cyprus Duty Free visited the Oros Machairas bee farm where they explored the art of beekeeping and learned about the wide-reaching environmental impact of the world’s most powerful pollinators. This partnership comes as part of continued efforts by Cyprus Duty Free to elevate their ESG efforts in line with ARI’s broader ESG strategy, Journey with Purpose.

Since April, the adopted hives have so far pollinated an estimated 9 billion flowers across Cyprus, a powerful reminder of how collective action supports ecosystems, biodiversity, and food sustainability.

Cyprus Duty Free is now proud to introduce the next phase of this journey, with the launch of their new Cyprus Duty Free Honey – produced by its hives at Oros Machairas and available for passengers to purchase exclusively at Larnaca and Pafos airport.

Jars of this premium, locally produced honey are available while stocks last and carry an extra special meaning for passengers in search of a taste or token of Cyprus – one that actively supports the local bee population and helps to enhance Cyprus’s biodiversity.

This partnership is very special to the team here at Cyprus Duty Free, allowing us to create a real and positive environmental impact while also involving passengers in our ESG journey. The end result is not only a beautiful, bespoke product for Cyprus Duty Free, but also a meaningful and long-lasting impact on local biodiversity.
