ARI Celebrates Multiple Wins with the TREX Awards

We are thrilled to share news of our award wins at the inaugural TREX Awards, conducted by The Moodie Davitt Report. These first-of-their-kind awards celebrate the best travel retail exclusive products and innovations – a core focus of our retail proposition here at ARI.
Here are details on the winning products and partnerships from across our global estate:
TREX Destination Merchandise Award Winner
The GAA Ireland Jersey collection in Dublin & Cork Duty Free was named winner in the Destination Merchandise category – an exclusive partnership between ARI and the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA), Ireland’s largest and most revered sporting organization, to create an exclusive GAA Ireland Jersey collection. Launched in 2015, this collaboration offered passengers travelling through Dublin and Cork Airport Duty Free the only all-Ireland, official GAA clothing– a unique token of Irish heritage that appealed to both domestic travellers and visiting tourists.
TREX Destination Merchandise Silver Award & TREX Spirits Silver Award
Portugal Duty Free partnered with Licor Beirão to create exclusive edition, localised packaging, celebrating the essence of Portugalade. The partnership received a Silver award in both the TREX Destination Merchandise Award and TREX Spirits Award categories.
Bespoke packaging, featuring illustrations of iconic local Portuguese landmarks, was developed for each of the individual stores: Lisbon Duty Free, Porto Duty Free, Faro Duty Free, Azores Duty Free and Madeira Duty Free. The packaging captures signature characteristics from each location, from traditional Fado to the Casas de Santana, to the marvellous beaches, via the Douro River and the Azores’ furnas.
TREX Fragrances Award Winner
Cyprus Duty Free was named winner in the TREX Fragrance category for the exclusively-produced Chypre Parfum du Temps. This limited edition perfume was created exclusively for Cyprus Duty Free to resurrect the Cypriot cultural heritage in all its glory. Cyprus Duty Free is world-renowned for its elevated sense of place offering, and it’s team dedicated to private label development ensure that innovation is at the heart of the business.
TREX Collaboration between a Brand and Retailer/Airport Award Winner & TREX Fragrances Gold Award
Redbreast released the global travel retail exclusive ‘Cuatro Barriles’ edition in March 2014 – the second permanent addition and fourth expression overall in its Iberian Series – exclusively retailing in Dublin and Cork Airport Duty Free. Since launching, it has won several global accolades and has further elevated ARI’s leading Irish Whiskey Collection.
TREX Wine Award Winner & TREX Collaboration between a Brand and Retailer/Airport Gold Award
Portugal Duty Free is exclusively home to Taylor’s Port City Edition, a limited edition Port wine that pays homage to the undefeated city. With more than 1,350 units sold in its first year, this is Taylor’s first exclusive Travel Retail edition, designed for travellers visiting the shops at national airports. This exclusive product claimed 2 TREX awards, including winner of the TREX Wine Award and Gold in the TREX Collaboration between a Brand and Airport/Retailer category.
TREX ESG-focused initiative Winner
Portugal Duty Free’s new ECO Area is a space with a transformative concept that promotes the valorisation of more sustainable products. Here passengers can find local, 100% national products, made from recycled and recyclable materials, organic and with no added sugar. This TREX ESG Focused Initiative award highlights ARI’s dedication to environmental responsibility and sustainable practices in travel retail.
