Cyprus Duty Free Blends Hospitality and Storytelling for World Cocktail Day

As World Cocktail Day shines a spotlight on cocktail culture around the world, Cyprus Duty Free is highlighting its Cyprus-inspired cocktail experience, designed to bring local flavour, hospitality and Mediterranean storytelling into the passenger journey through a distinctly Cypriot sense of place.
Developed in collaboration with Cypriot brands Iris Blue and Ovis, the experience combines bartender-led tastings with a curated cocktail menu inspired by the colours, flavours and atmosphere of Cyprus, including Crimson Drift, Iris Symphony, Blooming Rose, Warm Wave, Aromatic Sensation and Eternal Journey.
Crafted around locally produced Ovis whiskey and Iris Blue botanical gin, each cocktail blends premium spirits with in-store ingredients including rose cordial, Cypriot honey syrup, citrus, herbs and floral notes, bringing the flavours and character of Cyprus to life for travellers passing through the airport.

Part of Cyprus Duty Free’s broader “sense of place” strategy and its wider Kypriaka approach, the experience draws inspiration from the Cypriot tradition of filoxenia (φιλοξενία) — a culture of warmth, welcome and genuine hospitality — creating a more personal and emotionally engaging introduction to the destination for travellers passing through the airport.

This experience was about capturing the feeling of Cyprus and bringing that into the passenger journey in a warm, authentic and memorable way. The name of each cocktail was inspired by the first sip when we tried them. Through Kypriaka, we want travellers to experience the hospitality, flavours and emotional connection that make Cyprus special from the moment they enter the airport. From locally crafted spirits to in-store ingredients inspired by the island itself, every detail was created to give passengers a genuine taste of Cyprus before they travel.
