Delhi Duty Free Scoops a “Moodie”
Delhi Duty Free’s commitment to social media has been recognised with a major international award in the Moodies, the world’s first airport-specific digital, mobile and social media awards.
Delhi Duty Free’s Facebook page has been named Best Facebook Page – Travel Retail, ahead of Duty Free Stores New Zealand.
This is the inaugural year for the awards, which take their name from The Moodie Report, an international publisher and website operator devoted to the global travel retail industry.
A shortlist of 98 individual entries was generated from over 160 submissions made via a mix of self-nomination and a call for submissions from the travel retail and airport industry. The judging panel was led by The Moodie Report Director Digital Media & Innovation Matt Willey, together with Appleyard Communications Director Avril Appleyard and BBC Future Media & Technology/BBC Online Social Media Executive Nick Reynolds. The Delhi Duty Free Facebook page was launched in December 2011 and today boasts nearly 100,000 fans interested in updates on new brands, duty free exclusives and promotions at India’s largest duty free.
“To have nearly 100,000 fans on our Facebook page in just one year, and then to be acknowledged as the best Facebook page in the traveler retail category during the world’s first and only airport-specific digital, mobile and social media awards by the Moodie’s is a humbling recognition and we would like to thank our patrons & customers for this achievement,” said Mr. Arun Barathi, COO, Delhi Duty Free Services Pvt. Ltd. Facebook is a part of the company’s focused new media strategy that seeks to reach all our patrons and potential customer through a platform they are most comfortable with. We are glad we have been able to successfully do so and have been recognized by the prestigious Moodie’s awards.”
ARI’s burgeoning social media strategy received a further endorsement in the best YouTube campaign category, where Beirut Duty Free’s Dabke Dance YouTube video was highly commended.
