CTC-ARI World Cup Promotion is a Knockout
CTC ARI is offering British and Russian holidaymakers some consolation after their teams’ early exits from the World Cup, giving them the opportunity to win some great prizes at Cyprus Airports Duty Free.
Although British and Russian visitors make up the largest passenger group, the promotion – being run in conjunction with Hermes Airport and the F&B operation for the duration of The World Cup – is also proving extremely popular with passengers of all nationalities.
Any customer spending over €100 in store is invited to the “World Cup Pitch” to choose a ball from the bowl, in the best traditions of FIFA World Cup draws. Opening the ball reveals their fortune and whether “they hit the post” of score a “Goalll.”
Goalscorers receive a voucher for the F&B or Duty Free shops. Alternatively they can choose a gift from the prize table, the top prize is a €1,000 Duty Free voucher.
The promotional stand is manned by CTC ARI promoters dressed as referees who have created lots of excitement by blowing whistles, waving off side flags and even showing red cards. They have stopped short of using the World Cup referee’s “vanishing spray” due to concerns over sunburnt ankles!
The carnival like atmosphere around the shops is complemented by Brazilian samba music and flags from all the World Cup participating countries.
A local dance school has even given samba demonstrations and encouraged customers to join in and enjoy the last dance of their holidays.
In all the fun and frolics the commercial aspect of the promotion hasn’t been forgotten, it is advertised extensively throughout the landside check in areas, immigration and security.
Customer service agents also hand out flyers in Greek, Russian and English and a staff incentive is in place to encourage staff to get customers to spend over €100 and “qualify for the World Cup.”
Commenting on the promotion CTC-ARI General Manager Garrett Coogan said “The customer experience is paramount at Cyprus Airports Duty Free and we always like to create a fun atmosphere with our promotions. We’re conscious that lots of our customers are returning holidaymakers and football fans, many of them are still in “holiday mode,” so it’s great to run a promotion that really engages with them and crucially also drives penetration and passenger spends. Of course this initiative wouldn’t have been possible without the continued support of Hermes Airports and the F&B operation, whose outlets are all participating in the promotion”
I’m delighted to announce that the first big prize winner to receive a €1,000 voucher was Ms Taylor Rose Murdy from the UK. She was absolutely thrilled by all accounts and immediately phoned home to tell her parents. Her shopping spree included an Armani handbag, iPhone and some Dr Dre beats head phones.
The promotion continues until the final whistle is blown in Rio on July 13.
