ARI Uncorks Caribbean Rum Collection at Barbados International Airport
ARI has opened its latest liquor concept store The Caribbean Rum Collection at Runway Duty Free in Grantly Adams International Airport, Barbados.
The new 700 sq. ft. store pays homage to the great Caribbean tradition in rum making and is set to become a must visit destination for rum connoisseurs and novices alike. The finished shop has a very sophisticated look and feel and focuses heavily on the age and heritage aspects of the rums on offer.
Featuring a range of over 80 different rums including premium listings of several other small island brands connected to WIRSPA – the West Indian Rum & Spirit Producers Association – the store will encourage a much wider audience to enjoy Caribbean rum’s many charms.
Customers can experience first-hand some of the finest expressions of aged rum available at the Mount Gay sampling bar in the company of specially trained staff. For customers wishing to learn more, an interactive glossary of the various rums on offer, as well as tasting notes and cocktail recipes, is available on in-store iPads.
“Although malt whiskeys and cognacs have been long recognised for their excellent qualities, rum has been somewhat overlooked internationally, despite its rich heritage and well established quality and craftsmanship. I’m confident that Caribbean Rum Collection will help change this perception by educating customers and promoting more niche rum brands,” said Gerry Crawford ARI Chief Operations Officer.
“At ARI we spend considerable time delving deep to understand customer needs, which has led to the development of concepts such as Uisge Beatha, The Irish Whiskey Collection and the Wine Goose Chase to offer customers something really unique and ‘local’. The Caribbean Rum Collection remains true to these ambitions and I’d like to congratulate our General Manager Pat Molloy and our valued local partners, especially Mount Gay, for their vision and tenacity in making it a reality.”
Patrick Molloy General Manager Runway Duty Free added: “Since arriving in Barbados I’ve been fascinated by the history of rum from its origins on the cane fields to its present day global popularity.
“Rum is the perfect souvenir from a memorable trip to Barbados and Runway Duty Free is the one of the last stops to purchase rum before leaving. I’d also like to thank our partner Mount Gay who has been a great support to us during the development of the Caribbean Rum Collection.”
Caribbean ARI has also launched an extensive Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube campaign to promote the Rum Collection.
