ARI to sponsor The Irish Film Festival of India
The Irish Film Festival of India is the brainchild of film maker Marc-Ivan O’Gorman with the support of Culture Ireland, the Irish Film Institute and the Irish Film Board.
The festival takes place over 8 days, starting at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi 16-21 Feb and continues at the Nation Centre for Performing Arts, Mumbai, 23-26 February 2012.
As one of the key players in the Indian Duty Free industry ARI is glad to lend it support to this unique cultural event.
Although an awareness of Ireland and her culture is not widespread in India the reputation of our great writers does pervade.
And so, the theme of ‘The Writing Irish’ was chosen for the inaugural event with the likes of ‘The Dead’, ‘Krapps Last Tape’, and ‘Dancing at Lughnasa’ on show.
With the Irish-produced, Bollywood extravaganza ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ due for release later this year, the festival is a timely showcasing of Irish cinema.
All going well, the movie-obsessed public of India can look forward to progammes featuring Irish animations and Irish documentaries in future festivals.
