Comprising some 3,789 sqm. of retail space at the new Terminal 3 at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi, Delhi Duty Free was opened by ARI in August 2010.
Terminal 3 has a 34 million passenger handling capacity and Delhi Duty Free is now the single largest duty-free retailer in India.
Since its opening in 2010, Delhi Duty Free has enjoyed significant growth each year, with sales exceeding the original business plan by 53%. Within two years of taking over the Delhi concession, ARI increased the Passenger Spend Rate by 40%. This success has been driven by the liquor category – in particular, whisky. We sell over 5,000 bottles of whisky every day at Delhi Duty Free, and recently recorded our highest ever daily sales of US$820,000. Delhi Duty Free also won a Frontier Award for Digital Innovation in 2013.
